Lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) individuals continue to face unique vulnerabilities in the workplace based on their sexual minority status. This study determined the relationship between one's utilization of various sexual identity management strategies and several components of work satisfaction. This study consisted of 183 currently employed full-time adult volunteers completing an online survey consisting of five measures: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Climate Inventory (LGBTCI), followed by the Job Descriptive Index (JDI), followed by the Workplace Sexual Identity Management Measure (WSIMM), the Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI), and the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). Data analysis resulted in numerous significant findings. Results showed that greater levels of openness in the workplace are associated with not only numerous facets of work satisfaction, but with higher levels of life satisfaction. Results also suggested the effect coworker relationships have on one utilizing an explicitly out management strategy can best be understood as being mediated through the effect of perceived workplace climate among LGB professionals. Implications for clinical practice are discussed and recommendations for future research are made.
