Overall, the findings supported the assumption that employee-friendly management styles can have an effect on some television reporters' work behavior. It was found that both national network and private-sector cable television company reporters have passion for their jobs and diligent work habits. However, cable reporters are more willing to work beyond job requirements than national network reporters and they have a better relationship with their managers, National network reporters face more restrictions but have more pride in their company. As for the satisfaction level, cable reporters enjoy their roles as professional reporters. However, national network reporters express a higher level of satisfaction with their salary than with the extent of freedom they enjoy in their work. In short, passion, potential contributions to society through the job, and professional reputation will be the three biggest factors that influence the extra-role work behavior of the Taiwanese television reporters.

These findings provide evidence that no matter what kind of television station reporters work with, management, regardless of political or private affiliation, plays a key factor in influencing reporters' behavior. In this case, both national networks and cable television reporters show a strong statistical tendency for passion and satisfaction with their current job, yet feel that definite improvements could be made with significant alterations of management styles.
