The organic industry is continuing to grow while other segments of the grocery industry remain flat. Consumers not only care about the ingredients in their food but they continue to demand more health-related information on product packaging. This study examined the relationship between the USDA organic seal and sales of packaged salads. The literature suggests that several factors may influence the purchase of organic products. This quantitative study addressed the question of labeling through four hypotheses. The results supported the hypothesis that sales would be higher for products including descriptions of product attributes than those without. The paper recommends attributes including instructions or health claims should be highlighted on USDA organic food products.
