This study is designed to investigate English teacher qualifications in Korea. The focus of the study is on four groups of English teachers in Korea: NESTs in public schools, NESTs in private schools, Korean NNESTs in public schools, and Korean NNESTs in private schools. While the most comparative research on NNESTs and NESTs have been limited to discovering the perceptions and attitudes of the two groups, this study puts the focus on their teacher qualifications in four specific categories.

Thus, job advertisements posted by Korean schools are valuable sources that reflect English teacher qualifications in various Korean educational contexts. The study will cover the normative and immanent structures of the Korean English educational system in the process of the recruitment of English teachers in Korea.
