There are concerns and challenges today with educating youth in school and society in both morals and citizenship. The purpose of this qualitative study was to recognize ways parents and teachers instilled moral education in adolescents as an integrative approach for effective citizenship. The researcher used two focus groups, one of educators and one of parents, consisting of a total of 10 participants to gain shared perspectives on the topic. The results yielded numerous themes for teachers including (a) to combine the teachings of citizenship with spiritual and moral behavior, (b) to use religious and or spiritual principles, (c) to show respect, (d) to consistently model what is right and moral, (e) to encourage and challenge, and (f) to demonstrate love and care. The results yielded numerous themes for parents including (a) to instill religious and or spiritual principles, (b) to be a model of moral behavior, (c) to tailor moral principles for individual children, (d) to encourage youth even into adulthood, (e) to help youth avoid dependency as they move into adulthood, and (f) to instill respect. The changes in practice from the results of the study should (a) improve student educational achievement, (b) give insight to educators and parents on how to morally educate adolescents in their respective schools and homes, (c) give knowledge in helping parents and teachers educate today's youth in order to improve their moral actions and understanding, (d) and give insight in educating adolescents for citizenship more effectively.
