This study explores the question of the lived experience of shame in Jewish women. The shame is derived from cultural scripts that have been handed down through generations of Jewish ethics and morals and have evolved through time. This qualitative study is grounded in hermeneutic phenomenology and my life experiences. The methodology, reflective mindfulness, evolved from Bentz and Shapiro's work on mindful inquiry. The philosophical underpinnings of Martin Heidegger contributed to the profound levels of analysis and interpretation within this work. It is my aspiration that this work will inspire women of all cultures to examine their shame in relation to cultural scripts.
