Thesis (Ph.D.)--Alliant International University, 2012.
Depressive, passive-aggressive, self-defeating, and sadistic personality disorders have been subjects of critical research since before the publication of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-III; American Psychiatric Association, 1980). The current study attempted to determine if there was a relationship between these contended personality disorders and violence risk and psychopathy. Fifty-two archived probationer files (80.8% male, 19.2% female) were available for data analysis. Results indicated that passive-aggressive personality disorder has some predictive value for violence risk while depressive personality disorder may be predictive of psychopathy. Implications are discussed.
