Native Americans are the least represented ethnic group graduating from four-year universities. Although Native Americans have encountered many historical and present hardships, some are able to surpass these adversities and excel in university studies. This study researches twelve current students and graduated professionals and their choices to pursue a higher education. This research is based on semi-structured interviews regarding childhood environment, parental support, extra-curricular activities, educational support, and obstacles surpassed in their pursuit of higher education. This research gives insight into the problems faced by Native American students while attending instructional institutions, and solutions to overcome those obstacles for a successful university experience.
