Developmental issues such as emotional and behavioral problems normally cause effects on individuals diagnosed with an intellectually disability. Behavioral problems may increase the chances for the individual to be excluded from school or the workplace. Facilities and schools for the intellectually disabled have already expanded their treatment milieu by incorporating the use of art. With the intention to motivate the creative ability in individuals with intellectual disabilities, new forms of art can be introduced to assist in calming down emotional/behavioral outbursts while potentially guiding individuals to be less threatening to themselves or to others. The purpose of this study was to explore the changes in behavioral and emotional outbursts of students with intellectual disabilities when exposed to an art technique called marbling. The single-case study, used an AB AB pretest and posttest methodology (baseline and intervention), using the Developmental Behavior Checklist for Adults (DBC-A). The DBC-A was used to measure emotional/behavioral disturbances in 7 adults with intellectual disabilities while participating in non-marbling and marbling activities over a 6 week period.
