Thesis (Psy.D.)--Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Psychology, 2009.
The relationships among family and congregational variables and measures of health and well-being were examined in a sample of 79 Chinese pastors' kids (PKs). Taiwanese adult PKs responded to self-report measures of familism, filial piety, and family intimacy; congregational support, expectations, and monitoring; depression and somatization; and well-being and coping. Correlational and regression analyses indicated that family intimacy and congregational support were positively related to participants' health and well-being. Conversely, congregational demands and the parents' perceived adherence to traditional values of filial piety were negatively related to health and well-being.
