Thesis (Psy.D.)--The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, 2013.
Changes in the economic, technological, socio/cultural, and political sectors have exerted pressure on organizations to change in preparation or response. The majority of change initiatives fail despite the amount of energy, time, and financial resources directed toward such efforts. An overwhelming number of change initiatives may fail due to employee resistance. It may be an essential tactic as part of change implementation to ensure communications directed at employees are as persuasive as possible. This study focuses on the impact of persuasive messaging and elaboration on affect and cognitive information processing. Behavioral Economics is used as a model for understanding how people view change as a reflection of what they will gain or lose.
