Every person experiences the world differently; there is no normal. It is a time to redefine what a "normal" exhibit is and start creating spaces that are accessible and enjoyable to all visitors, including those with developmental disabilities like Autism Spectrum Disorder. Sensorium is about discovering the differences between each and every single person and how to use those differences to gain a better understanding of one another. Through exploration of the seven senses using interactive elements, visitors are encouraged to learn about one another's ideal input of sensory information. Museums across the world are beginning to respond to the need for environments like Sensorium. As the number of people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders continues to increase, demand increases for environments that fit the needs of families dealing with social challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders. This research examines how if a museum exhibit is equipped properly, it can become a suitable entertainment and learning environment for people on the spectrum.
