The subjects of mentoring and self-efficacy have been studied, individually, for many years. However, very few studies have been conducted on these constructs as primary variables in a business setting with minority-women entrepreneurs. A prior doctoral student conducted a correlation study of these constructs to determine if there was a relationship between these variables, with female entrepreneurs in Arizona. While this study was instrumental in showing a positive relationship, the study did not allow for generalization among minority-women entrepreneurs. This study reviews the data to determine if there is a difference in self-efficacy between minority-women entrepreneurs that have been mentored and those that have not. The New General Self-Efficacy scale is used to measure self-efficacy and mentoring is measured as dichotomous variable. Research has shown that socialization tactics are internalized by minority women. This internalization has a negative effect on the self-efficacy of minority women. Because the leaders of tomorrow will include a wide diversity of ethnicities, this study sought to examine minority-women entrepreneurs; their personal and business demographics; their propensity to participate in mentoring relationships; and the difference between those that received mentoring and those that did not, as it relates to self-efficacy.
