Thesis (Ph.D.)--Capella University, 2014.
Understanding the relationships and lived experiences of family-member and non-family-member employees in nonprofit and for-profit family-owned and operated organizations whose leaders practice nepotism may increase entrepreneurs' knowledge and awareness of their use of both family and business systems. Due to ownership trends and merging nonprofit and for-profit entities, business entrepreneurs may begin to develop trainings, curricula, leadership styles, and management unique and specific to family-owned and operated organizations. This study highlights the status of family-owned and operated businesses whose owners were unaware they used business and family systems interchangeably and affected business performance as a result.
