This research examines the history of societal change related to the diffusion of innovative technologies in the profession of landscape architecture. The research uses two existing data bases which characterize the status of the landscape architecture profession. This data is classified using Rogers' Model of innovative Processes in Organizations as a means to measure the extent of the profession's effective adoption of communication technology. This classification indicates that landscape architects are lagging behind in the adoption of communication technology resulting in a diminished status of the profession. Recommendations for improvement in the adoption of communications technology to benefit the profession are presented.
