This is a qualitative study which investigated francophone EFL teachers' perceptions of research. Focus was put on teachers' views of research process, value, and constraints. Semi-structured interview data were collected from four EFL teachers working as part-timers for an English language center in Niger and analyzed using some existing and emerging codes. Findings from the study have revealed similarities with many previous studies. While participants think of research as an empirical process or as reading-writing and reading-practice, its value is simultaneously expressed in terms of personal/institutional development, teaching improvement, lesson/training preparation, economic development, and supporting arguments. As far as personal and institutional constraints are concerned, research endeavors are challenged by not only teachers' lack of confidence and lack of research knowledge, but also by the lack of research culture, the lack of access to documents in English, and the lack of financial resources.
