This thesis identifies aspects of the process of coming out for gay men. A thematic analysis of interviews with eight gay men supports theoretical concepts within interpersonal communication literature. Specifically, the analysis illustrates themes identified within the following categories: the communication process of coming out, perceptions of communication channel choices when coming out, differences when coming out to friends and family, and privacy management when coming out.
