The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of school administrators, teachers, students, and business employers pertaining to the importance and current use of total quality improvement principles in private vocational educational institutions. The instrument utilized in this study was based on Bonstingl's (1992) interpretations of Deming's Fourteen Principles for educational quality improvement. It consisted of 35 items rated on a 5-point Likert scale. Five hundred fifty-five stakeholders were randomly selected from the experimentally accessible population. The number of questionnaires disseminated to participants in this study was 555, and the number returned was 494 (89.01%).Subjects--Topical Terms:

Means and standard deviations were computed and reported for each of Bonstingl's 35 interpretations of Deming's Fourteen Principles for administrators, teachers, students, and employers. A one-way multivariate analysis of variance was utilized to determine the multivariate differences among the participant categories for each of the importance and current use sets of items. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to determine the differences among the participant categories for each of the importance and current use of Bonstingl's 35 interpretations. When the F statistic in the one-way ANOVA was significant, the Scheffé method was utilized for post hoc comparisons. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients were computed to determine the linear relationship between participants' perceptions of the importance and current use of each of Bonstingl's interpretations. The .05 level of significance was utilized for all statistical tests.

The results revealed that (a) most of Bonstingl's interpretations of Deming's Fourteen Principles are generally perceived to be of importance and in current use for school decision making, (b) there are numerous differences among administrators, teachers, students, and employers regarding the importance of Bonstingl's interpretations of Deming's Fourteen Principles, and (c) there are numerous differences among administrators, teachers, students, and employers regarding the current use of Bonstingl's interpretations of Deming's Fourteen Principles for school decision making.
