This quantitative research determined the extent to which personality factors were related to the associated competency factors when selecting team members. This study utilized the <italic>Big Five</italic> (Goldberg, 1981; Costa & McCrae, 1985) factors of personality, which are Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. This study utilized a personality instrument and a competency listing, both of which measure the Big Five domains. Prior research found that there was a correlation between personality factors and competencies within individuals (Lombardo and Eichinger, 1999; Costa and McCrae, 2000; King, Fowler, and Zeithaml, 2001; Hauschildt, Keim, and Medcof, 2000). The problem was that specific competencies have not been correlated to personality types as criterion in the selection of team members.
