This project describes involvement in the sex trade from the perspective of the purchasers and from support staff who are knowledgeable about the sex trade. Eleven individuals were interviewed in in-depth personal interviews. This project report tells their stories, identifies motivating factors, and suggests possible preventative and practical strategies for addressing involvement in the sex trade. Specific strategies for legislators, social policy makers, the judiciary, Crown Counsel, police and social agencies are presented and explored.

There are costs to the young women involved that include sexually transmitted diseases, loss of self-esteem, drug dependence and often violence, degradation and murder.
