Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of the Incarnate Word, 2004.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible relationship between the locus of control (LOC) of department chairs and the perceived professional autonomy of faculty members in ten related Sports Management departments in Taiwan. Two instruments used in the study were Rotter's I-E scale and the Chinese version of Breaugh's work autonomy scales. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between the LOC of department chairs and the scheduling autonomy of faculty members. Results also suggested that faculty members' age categories had an impact on their method, criteria and overall autonomy. Faculty members' categories of years of experience had an impact on their method and overall autonomy.Subjects--Topical Terms:
