The purpose of this study is to explore possible correlations between learning styles and personality to provide teachers with a better understanding of this relationship. Armed with this knowledge, teachers could provide more effective presentation of materials and have a more positive influence on student communication. Thus, both students and teachers would benefit from improved communication in the classroom. Toward that end, the Big Five Inventory and a Modified Version of the Index of Learning Style were distributed to Introduction to Public Speaking students.Subjects--Topical Terms:

The results of this study reveal there are significant correlations between personality and learning style. The results also indicate that small changes in presentation of materials may enhance their reception by students who are of differing personality and encompass different learning styles.
