The study employed the use of both qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis. Qualitative data was organized according to key terms, key phrases, and prevailing themes. Descriptive statistical analysis, Chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis tests were the methods employed to analyze quantitative data. A total of 226 survey questionnaires were mailed to the population. A total of 150 usable responses were received, resulting in a 66.4% response rate.

An airlines flight operations internship was perceived to have a positive impact in the pursuit of career goals. Ninety-seven percent of respondents would recommend participating in an airline flight operations internship to someone else. The most valuable aspects of the internship allowed students to network with airline personnel, assisted in acquiring future employment, provided access to training facilities, and exposed interns to the operational environment of the airline. Recommended program improvements emphasized financial relief for interns, ensuring meaningful learning experiences for interns, greater levels of communication with interns, and the formation of employment bridge programs with regional air carriers.
