This study creates an art-based model which examines states of consciousness and cognitive processing through sensory experience with color to address color's function as a cognitive tool. The project outlines four separate conscious states perceived through a sensory immersion in color, based on the premise that color evokes separate states of consciousness related to white as sensory release, yellow as attention to mind, red as attention to body, and blue as attention to spirit.

A review of literary sources includes the areas of consciousness studies, quantum physics, creativity, neuropsychology, aesthetics, phenomenology, and color theory. By utilizing heuristic research methodology, data was obtained in the form of secondary research, journaling, and the creation of The Red Studio model. The project contains a sculptural model which is utilized both as a repository for research and as curricular tool. The study includes a series of outlined models for future curricula development by an interdisciplinary team. The researcher has concluded with this study that the connection between color and consciousness is significant and can form the basis for a series of curricula models.
