Thesis (Ph.D.)--Texas Woman's University, 2002.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between time spent in physical activity and components of physical fitness among school aged children third through sixth grade. Two hundred and four boys were recruited from the St. Mark's private school to participate in this study. During this investigation each participant underwent a battery of fitness tests including cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, body composition and flexibility. The participants also completed a 3-day physical activity log. Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between time spent in physical activity and whether criteria level was met for each of the physical fitness test (p > 0.05). There was also no significant relationship between time spent in physical activity and the number of physical fitness tests criterion met by participants ( p = .624). It is concluded that there was not a significant relationship between time spent in physical activity and measures of physical fitness.
