Ground skink, Scincella lateralis, population dynamics are closely tied to available resources, such as prey and habitat availability. Controlled burning of forests for silvicultural and recreational purposes decrease both of these resource sets. This study documents the effects that burning has on ground skink populations and isolates some possible reasons for these changes. It achieves this by incorporating various sampling techniques to produce a comprehensive data set of populations of ground skinks, habitat availability, and prey availability for three sites at varying levels of recovery from a burn.
