This report describes an example of presenting basic archaeological methodology and technique to the general public. The project addresses, through the use of a local historical archaeology site, how as archaeologists, we are responsible not only for preserving the past but for making the past accessible to the public, to whom it actually belongs.

The interpretive exhibit presents the transformation of this site's industrial development from grist mill, to ice plant, to electricity generation, to its final metamorphosis into an electric substation. Exhibits include artifacts recovered from their forgotten resting place on the property, which emphasize industrial use, original schematics of the building and its equipment layout from 1911, a Pelton water wheel from the same time period, that generated the electrical power that was the life blood for this industrial site, and a children's archaeological excavation area.
