Thesis (Ed.D.)--Immaculata College, 2005.

A descriptive study was designed to investigate accelerated Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students' satisfaction with a wide range of college services in a small, Christian institution. By incorporating the Noel-Levitz(TM) Adult Student Priorities Survey and interviews, the research question yielded data which RN to BSN students deemed important for a satisfactory higher learning experience, namely: academic advising effectiveness, academic services, admissions, financial aid effectiveness, campus climate, instructional effectiveness, registration effectiveness, safety and security, and service excellence. Resultant data demonstrated that accelerated RN to BSN students considered instructional effectiveness and advising effectiveness high in importance with a concomitant high satisfaction rating. On the other hand, the sampled population valued bookstore hours, counseling services, vending machines, and computer labs low in importance. Participants suggested that convenience of the program was a precursor for admission and matriculation. Those sampled voiced loss of financial aid or family crises as reasons for withdrawal. Of interest, interviewed participants suggested that once enrolled in a program, it would take a major life crisis to withdraw. Outcomes of this investigation may guide faculty, staff, and administrators to proactively create an educational environment in which an accelerated RN to BSN student can succeed in completing a rigorous academic program, while maintaining balance in personal and professional lives.
