The purpose of this thesis project was to develop a searchable online repository directory for the Society of California Archivists (SCA). An in-depth review of other archival organizations' Websites in both the United States and abroad justified the need for such a directory. This was followed by a study of possible methodologies for the directory. XML and XSLT were chosen as the most practical method for implementing a data file-driven online Website. Several steps were involved in the creation of the Website, including data processing, stylesheet and website design, and usability testing. The result was the creation of an initial repository directory containing 80 records now residing on the SCA's Website. On-going improvements and maintenance of the online repository directory will continue beyond the scope of this project as a service to the archival profession.
