Currently, Mexican agriculture high schools teach a national curriculum which incorporates isolated units on environmental issues. Predictors of attitudes and behaviors were assessed by an inventory which included self reports, observations, surveys of social values, knowledge perspectives, and environmental economics perceptions. A MANOVA analysis was done: the main effects of the interaction between independent and dependent variables were significant on 10 out of 24 questions. T-tests were used for post-hoc contrasts.

The results revealed that main effects of gender, age, location (south, central, and north), ethnicity, and income were associated with several environmental variables such as attitudes towards environmental economics, technology, use of chemical products, and calculation of social costs.

Survey results indicated that students from Mexican agriculture high schools showed attention to environmental knowledge, their motives reflected greater concern for the preservation of the natural resources, and this concern increased after a three-year educational process.
