As a result of extreme poverty, thousands of Latin-American mothers have migrated to the United States since the early 1980s. Typically, most women leave their children behind in their country of origins because they only plan on staying in the United States for a few months---just long enough to save money and return home. However, most mothers usually experience long separations from their children. Some never see their children again.

As a result of long separations, children often become frustrated, and it is usually only a matter of time before they decide that they will also migrate. Each year, about 50,000 children cross U.S.-border illegally. In End of the Road, journalist Jesus Ayala documents the cases of migrant children who long to be reunited with their families in the United States, children whom are even willing to risks their own lives to make their life-long dream a reality.
