The following findings are reported: (1) Children with NA have higher Competence and General Evaluative Contentment scores than did children with AD. (2) Children of mothers with a "middle" level of educational attainment had a significantly higher total mean self-concept scores than children of mothers with a "high" level of educational attainment. (3) Across all categories by which subjects were grouped, the total mean scores fell within the moderate positive range of the JPPSST. (4) In the five classifications categories of JPPSST, this finding showed that 48.33% fell into the high positive self-concept range; 30.83% fell into the moderate positive self-concept range; 3.75% fell into the range of watch list; 5.67% fell into the range of poor; 10.42% fell into the range of high risk negative. (5) Some tendency for AD subjects to be disproportionate, represented at the lower level of the JPPSST, and for normal articulation subjects to be disproportionately represented at the upper level was also observed.

Recommendations for further research include expansion of this study into other geographic areas of Taiwan and investigation of other factors, possibly related to self-concept development in young children.
