Thesis (M.A.)--Oral Roberts University, 2004.
This thesis examines the Greek word sarx in Romans 7:14--25. Sarx is literally translated as "flesh." The New International Version of the Bible has chosen to translate it is as "Sinful nature." What does sarx really mean? Does it mean "flesh" or "Sinful nature," or could it mean something else?

To find out what sarx meant to Paul, one has to examine sarx in light of Paul's worldview. The interpretation of Paul's worldview rests heavily on a person's theological position, specifically, one's anthropological view of man and one's position on regeneration. Attention is given to these areas to provide a theological context for defining sarx. Within these parameters, sarx will be examined historically, culturally, and biblically to provide a platform for the exegesis of sarx in Romans 7. This exegesis will capture Paul's concept of the flesh in Romans 7:14--25.
