African Americans experience numerous challenges in all areas of their lives, which include physical health, housing, education, employment, and, especially mental health. Incorporating spirituality into African Americans' therapeutic process could benefit their mental health status. Consequently, this study sought to determine if the qualities of spirituality as an inner resource related to self-esteem, forgiveness, and the meaning of life's purpose could offer additional therapeutic benefits for African Americans. A case study was evaluated to determine the feasibility of incorporating the inner resource of spirituality into the therapeutic regime. Conclusion: This study supports the use of spirituality, which had an inverse relationship to anxiety, anger and depressive symptoms, as an additional psychological benefit.
