Philippe Manoury's opera K... employs a large array of technologically generated sounds, full orchestra and live singers. Manoury's use of technology has a manifest impact on the listener: there is a changed perception of time, a blurring of boundaries between the rational and the improbable, and an enlargement of the drama. In this dissertation I will investigate the production of the opera and technology's influence on structure, aesthetics, and meaning in Manoury's K.... How does a contemporary opera that substantively commingles electronic and acoustic music, change the experience of opera?*
