Fifteen fitted sleeves were made of different kinds of fabrics. This Sleeves Program was conducted with thirty-five women in order to refine the rating sheet with a set of forty-eight descriptors for the main study.

The main study consisted of using two kinds of leotards, three different types of simulated environments, nine different temperature and relative humidity conditions, two groups of subjects (four females), and five repeats. The comfort ratings of the subjects were recorded using the Comfort Descriptor Rating Sheet with five intensity levels. Subjects determined their thermal comfort using the McGinnis thermal scale. The individual comments were described by subjects on the rating sheet. The body temperatures of subjects were measured by the operator with a thermometer using the underarm method.

The descriptor gathering step of the Sleeves Program was successful in identifying a wider range of comfort issues. An inspection of these descriptors reveals that the sensations may be visual, tactile or both and confirms the findings noted in other human perception analysis studies of textile products.

The comfort ratings, the McGinnis thermal scales, and the individual comments by the subjects in this study revealed that garment comfort was influenced by both the fiber type and various environments.

The corresponding effort on the effects of wind on comfort level revealed that wind velocity may play an important role in comfort level.

In the present study, the approach with added moisture spray just before evaluation may be quite useful in identifying which fabric properties truly influence the moisture transfer process in garments.

The extension of clothing comfort evaluation with added wind or moisture resulted in substantial changes in comfort levels for many descriptors. The testing protocol with added wind may be important in full garment studies along with added moisture features reflecting real use conditions.

The results of the subjects' body temperatures revealed that the time which body temperature was measured was important. The human body could adjust to changing environments within ten minutes.
