This qualitative case study investigated the implementation of the School-To-Success career-planning program at a K--8 School. Three research questions, designed to determine whether 8th grade students would benefit from the 9-week program, guided the study: (a) Would participation in the School-To-Success program help students to form clear goals for their future careers? (b) Would participation in the program help students to become more motivated to learn? and (c) would participation in the program help students to become more aware of the connections between school and their career choices?

Research data were gathered from (a) student self-assessments administered at the beginning and at the end of the program; (b) a 10-item program-evaluation questionnaire completed by students and by parents; and (c) classroom observations conducted by the researcher, an English teacher, and the school's director of development.
520 $a Few qualitative studies have investigated the implementation of a career-education program at the middle-school level. The results of this study indicated that the School-To-Success program can empower middle-school students to set clear career goals, to be motivated to learn, and to understand the correlation between what they are learning in school and their future goals.
