Thesis (M.A.L.S.)--State University of New York Empire State College, 2004.
Written from the perspective of a former artisan, the varying viewpoints of modern decorative artisans, currently working in rural Western New York State, is the focus of this study; how they approach their crafts; how they view themselves in relationship to American culture and society, both historically and present day; and what they believe is to be the future of their craft fields. This study provides a historical overview of American decorative arts, specifically in the fields of architecture and furniture; introduces the subject artisans, and proceeds to detail the interviews with these workers.Subjects--Topical Terms:
