This study seeks to examine inter-cultural missions and church growth in the Book of Acts. Since a biblical view of missions and church growth as presented in the Book of Acts has largely been ignored, this work shows the relevance of Luke's account for the modern church.

This study seeks to examine inter-cultural missions and church growth in the Book of Acts. Since a biblical view of missions and church growth as presented in the Book of Acts has largely been ignored, this work shows the relevance of Luke's account for the modern church.

The purpose of this research is fourfold: (1) to help the contemporary church in understanding the biblical concepts of mission and the elements of apostolic missionary strategies; (2) to discover the main factors of church growth and to develop a model for a missionary church; (3) to identify the relationship between missions and church growth in the Book of Acts; and (4) to examine the premise that the revival on the day of Pentecost was the wellspring and original source for missions and church growth in the Book of Acts. This study is an attempt to interpret the historical facts of the early church from a missiological perspective. Historical, theological and missiological methodologies are employed.

On the basis of the study, the author came to the following conclusions: (1) Based on the Book of Acts, "mission" is defined as the divine work of God performed through the church in order to make disciples of all nations in accordance with the Great Commission by sending the people of God as witnesses of the gospel of salvation in the power of the Holy Spirit. (2) The ultimate goal of mission strategy in the Book of Acts was to evangelize the unsaved, to form a community of the redeemed, and to multiply local churches. (3) The Book of Acts reveals that the missionary team approach was effective for church planting and multiplication. (4) In the Book of Acts, the Holy Spirit was the only One who had the authority to plan the strategy of mission and the power to accomplish it. (5) In the Book of Acts, mission strategies concentrated on the preparation of ministers, evangelism, edification of new believers, establishment of the local church, and multiplication of the churches through the believers' reproduction. (6) The Book of Acts reveals that all seven primary factors of quantitative and qualitative church growth focused on evangelism and mission as their ultimate outcomes. (7) The Antioch church was the center of mission, willingly and continually being involved in sending her best members. (8) The Book of Acts shows that missions and church growth are inextricably connected; missions led to church growth and church growth brought more extensive missions geographically and cross-culturally. (9) The Bock of Acts reveals that the outpouring and filling of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was the wellspring and original source for mission and church growth.
