This project examined the development of a strategic funding application plan for the Rediscovery International Foundation (RIF). It focused on how a non-profit organization that develops and operates large expeditions and training programs could achieve sustainable funding. RIF requires this funding to develop ongoing programs and expeditions for Aboriginal youth and young adults in small rural communities. The study process involved first reviewing the applicable academic literature, and then applying a method of action research by interviewing representatives from various funding agencies and analyzing the resulting data. It produced recommendations about how RIF can build sustainable funding processes within the context of a strategic funding plan and outlined the steps required to meet this goal.
