Thesis (Psy.D.)--California Institute of Integral Studies, 2006.
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between two factors associated with effective countertransference management: body awareness and affect dysregulation. One hundred ten interns and seasoned therapists were recruited to complete the Inventory of Altered Self-Capacities (IASC) (Briere, 2000), the Body Awareness Measure (Forester, 2001), and the Private Body Consciousness subscale of the Body Consciousness Questionnaire (Miller, Murphy, & Buss, 1981), in addition to demographic data on an online website. Therapists' scores on the Affect Dysregulation scale of the IASC (Briere, 2000) and the Body Awareness Measure (Forester, 2001) were not significantly correlated. A significant correlation was found between scores on the Body Awareness Measure (Forester, 2001) and scores on the Private Body Consciousness subscale of the BCQ, adding to the validation of the Body Awareness Measure.Subjects--Topical Terms:
