Thesis (Ph.D.)--Capella University, 2006.
How do Japanese nationals define their own race, and how do those perceptions influence their reaction to, and preferences for foreigners? Foreign access to Japanese populations is predicated upon awareness of the pervasive influences of Japanese culture and Japanese racial identity development attitudes. However, research in these areas is not expansive. A descriptive research design was used to investigate Japanese racial identity development attitudes and preferences for foreigner psychologists using a revised White Racial Identity Attitude Scale (WRIAS-REV) and the Psychologist Preference Scale (PPS) on an adult community sample in Shizuoka City, Japan to determine the implications for foreign industrial organizational psychologists seeking to expand their practice in Japan.
