This study created and tested curriculum using a cassette series and manual specifically designed to incorporate information from the fields of communication, biblical literature, and conflict management. The curriculum was tested with a group of 10 individuals, (four volunteers and six pre-selected individuals), from evangelical churches.Subjects--Topical Terms:

520 $a The major research question is "Will the use of a cassette series and manual improve the understanding of conflict management for volunteers and pre-selected individuals within the context of the evangelical church?" The data revealed an increase in participant understanding through this methodology and an affirmative answer to the major research question.
520 $a Test participants were given a pre- and post-Conflict Styles Survey, a cognitive pre-test and two post-tests on conflict management, a post-course survey, and a final questionnaire to determine if understanding had substantially increased after listening to the cassette series.
520 $a The Conflict Styles Survey revealed that conflict management styles had become more collaborative after the cassette series than before, while the use of negative conflict management styles decreased. Seventy percent of the participants increased their collaboration responses while 50% increased by more than one point (out of 12 possible responses).
520 $a The conflict management test revealed increased understanding from the pre-test to the post-tests. Additionally, this knowledge was retained on the second post-test one month after listening to the cassette series.
520 $a The post-course survey revealed a positive response from participants regarding the effectiveness of this methodology. Several participants found opportunities to implement their new conflict management skills in everyday life situations at home, at work, and in the family.
520 $a This study focused on cognitive understanding and encourages observational studies in this area to determine if actual behavioral changes in conflict management styles occurred.
