This quantitative, correlational study explored managerial ethics by examining the degree to which veterinary manager's values are associated with their leadership style. The Rokeach Value Survey and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire were used to survey the 945 Veterinary Hospital Managers Association members for 2004. The degree of correlation between variables was determined by using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation. Based upon a 27% return, there was no significant correlation between values and leadership styles. The inference was that values, not leadership style, are the foundation for developing an ethical culture, leading to an organization's long-term success. Recommendations are made to examine further the nature of leadership, values, and ethical cultures, with a focus on outliers identified in this study.
