Two forms of self-administered questionnaires utilized in this study to collect the data. One form of the questionnaire administered only to branch managers to provide specific information related to dimensions of organizational social structures. Those managers were used as a means for assessing the degree to which their employees experience formalization, centralization and job-routinization. The second form administered solely to employees of selected branches to obtain data on the job-related characteristics, demographic personal background and social-related factors. Four hundred forty-five of branch employees of Saudi Islamic and non-Islamic (western) commercial banks participated in this study.

Utilizing Independent samples t-Test and multiple linear regression analysis, number of findings were found. For example, it was found that both employees of Islamic and non-Islamic Saudi commercial banks were highly committed to their employing organizations. But the analysis indicates that the Saudi Islamic bank was more socially acceptable employer than the non-Islamic banks. Employees of the Islamic bank branches indicated that it was more socially acceptable to join such a bank than did their counterparts in non-Islamic banks. Also, branches of Islamic bank were found to be more embedded in social values and norms of Saudi society than did branches belonging to non-Islamic banks by showing greater degree of organizational centralization and job-routinization.
