Thesis (D.B.A.)--Argosy University/Schaumburg (Chicago Northwest), 2004.
This dissertation addresses the need for employee organizational financial literacy training in economic entities. Business, government, and the academic communities have all identified a need for a higher awareness on the part of the employee and the economic entity. The passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the identification and need for a financial expert on audit committees, changes in the requirements of corporate governance for both profit and nonprofit entities, and increasing competitive pressures have created a need for economic entities to better manage their intellectual capital. This dissertation takes a closer look into the phenomenon of organizational financial literacy training and its impact on employees and the economic entity. The impact of organizational financial literacy training to the economic entity will be thoroughly explored. It addresses the following questions: Does attendance at a workshop designed to increase organizational financial literacy increase employees' ability to evaluate their understanding of the organization's financial literacy? Does employee attendance at a workshop designed to increase organizational financial literacy improve organizational outcomes?
