The purpose of the study was to (a) develop an innovative, first of its kind, blended learning training program, focusing on interpersonal skills, for loan officers in the banking industry, (b) methodically evaluate the training program against the program's goals and objectives, and (c) systematically investigate, reflect, interpret, and improve the training program through a cyclical action research model-planning, action, and evaluation. Action research was used for two primary tasks: (a) to uncover or produce information and new knowledge that was used to improve the development, evaluation and effectiveness of the training program; and (b) to enlighten and empower the participating loan officers to collaborate in the evaluation and improvement process.
