The concept of stress is a long standing notion. Stress may be the most common problem of everyday life. Occupational stress can be considered as an accumulation of job stress related situations that are considered oppressive by most of us. Occupational stress is the interaction of work conditions with characteristics of the worker such that the demands of work exceed the ability of the worker to cope with them. The focus of this paper is the management of professional cabin crew stress.

This program contains four components: (a) initial training for newly hired cabin personnel; (b) introduction of the program to all current flight attendants; (c) annual recurrent stress management training to be added to existing required annual training; and (d) aftercare program. This program design is suitable for utilization by airlines with the goal of reducing occupational stress experienced by the companies' cabin crews. Its ultimate goals is to enhance employee job satisfaction and create a more cost effective airline. This program will assist cabin staff members cope with airline factors which are not restricted to any particular aircraft or airline alone and which cumulatively may lead to occupational stress.

Finally, as is confirmed by the literature, no other comprehensive model for stress management within the cabin staff group exists. It is also expected that this work will be seminal in design and, as such, it is foreseeable that additional research into the development of a comprehensive stress management program will further develop.
