Risk is identified in everyone's life. We face a series of risks and strive to learn causes and consequences of each risk as a step to challenge against it. From my understanding, studying risk is a study about the human being and a series of efforts to learn about ourselves. It results from the interaction between us and nature, among people, or between us and our society.

520 $a In "Competitive Insurance Market Equilibrium with Imperfect Information and Bankruptcy Shield," adverse selection problem in insurance market equilibrium has cultivated considerable academic inquiries and studies to explain rational behaviors of insurance customers as well as insurers. Considering bankruptcy filing as an option on customers' menus, the author examines the alteration of rational behavior on competitive insurance market equilibrium.
520 $a In "Informational Asymmetry, Compensation, and Imperfect Signal in Demutualization," demutualization is a complicated conversion procedure whereby an insurance company changes its form of business organization from mutual to stock company. A game-theoretic attempt is made to understand the rational behavior of policyholders and managers in a demutualization process, examine optimal strategies, and help policyholders to understand the impact of managerial compensation plan when information asymmetry exists.
520 $a In "Altman's Z-score and an Option-based Credit Risk Measure," predicting bankruptcy of firms has been a challenge to academicians mostly due to the ambiguity on the robust independent variable(s). Adopting an option-based variable for financial distress prediction research and comparing with the Altman's Z-score model, the author posits that some drawbacks from conventional methods are overcome in prediction of bankruptcy in some industries.
