Thesis (Ph.D.)--The University of Alabama in Huntsville, 1993.
The overall success of the Product Development Process is contingent on the early ability to assess a design's producibility. Likewise, if the development of a methodology to determine a design's producibility is to be of value, it must be a natural extension of the science of product and process design. This research provides a methodology for assessing a design's producibility. It provides a refinement of the existing body of axiomatic design methodology consisting of a redefinition of the design environment, and creation of the product development information model. The application of the refined design axioms to the product development process is illustrated by a hypothetical design problem and by analysis of actual process data.Subjects--Topical Terms:
